Lexi Huffine

Lexi Huffine is a junior at Paragould High School, and also the daughter of Summer Huffine. Lexi had the first-hand look of watching her mother work her absolute hardest to grow her businesses. In this interview, Lexi describes how Summer is influencing her as a mother and an entrepreneur.

"I have witnessed with my own eyes how determined, hardworking, and dedicated my mom is and it is truly an inspiration."

How would you describe your relationship with Summer?

My mom has always been the biggest role model in my life. She would drop everything in a second to be there for me or my sister. She is the best mom I could've ever asked for and I feel beyond grateful to be able to have someone so special to guide me through life.

How has Summer changed from before her career to now?

In the beginning, she was located downtown with one building, Willow Salon. She would work all hours day and night to get her business up and going. She then got lucky enough to get to the building beside her salon and decided to open a small clothing store. We quickly realized that she needed much more space and bought another building across the street which is now Backroad Social. It was a huge hit in our small town and she went all around the state marketing it. The building right beside her new clothing store became available and it was too perfect to pass up. She decided to open up a blowout bar, leaving her with a total of four buildings downtown. I have witnessed with my own eyes how determined, hardworking, and dedicated my mom is and it is truly an inspiration.

What impact do you think Summer is making on the community?

She is making Paragould fun again. It brings us all together with the people who enjoy these little things as much as we do.

In your words, how is Summer impacting you personally?

Getting to see these things happen first hand is incredible. I will be working in the same environment when I graduate and it has prepared me for the world outside of school. I was blessed to be able to have such a devoted role model and I’m so excited to begin my journey.
